Inspiring Young Storytellers: A Creative Storytelling Workshop with StoryVerse Land

At StoryVerse Land, we create personalised storybooks where every child gets to be a hero of their own tale. And this past May, we got to sprinkle a little of our magic inside another story-loving space.

Garima Gupta, who is part of the StoryVerse Land family, wrote Victoria Defeats the Virus. She invited us as a special guest to have a chat with the storytellers in training!

A Room Full of Imagination (and Curious Questions!)

The day was buzzing with creativity. Before long, children were imagining themselves as everything from dragons and kangaroos to fairies and foxes. The storytellers were all excited to create new characters and avatars for themselves as we talked about building stories and concepts for books.

It was a fantastic experience and a powerful reminder of how creative writing for children opens up endless possibilities. Dreaming is part of their DNA.

When it was time for us to take the virtual stage, we opened the doors to a world many kids had never seen before: the behind-the-scenes process of making personalised children’s books. From custom kids’ books to personalised storybooks filled with imagination and values, we showed them what goes into bringing a magical, made-just-for-you story to life.

And then… the questions started flying in!

•  How does publishing work?

•  How do you choose the story’s lesson?

•  Can my book have a cliffhanger?

Some of the young storytellers asked how we choose the values each story teaches, such as kindness, courage, gratitude, and more. We explained how each book teaches values through imaginative storytelling, creating confidence-building stories that children can identify with. Others were curious about how their name and appearance would become part of the book.

But the conversation didn’t stop there…

There were thoughtful and surprisingly deep questions about story endings, cliffhangers, and even death in children’s books.

One child asked, “Why do children’s books always have happy endings?” while another wondered, “Can a hero have a bad ending on purpose?”

We loved seeing their eyes light up as we explained how personalised books balance emotional lessons with hope and how keepsake storybooks often help kids process big feelings safely.

Everything at StoryVerse Land starts with the same magic these children showed us during the session: imagination, curiosity, and heart.

More Than Just a Story

This wasn’t just a webinar. It was a reminder of why we do what we do, to bring the magic of books and words to as many people as possible. We can achieve this in multiple ways to encourage the next generation of readers and writers.

Through this webinar, we were reminded that creativity needs to be nurtured so it can blossom and light their paths as they go through life. We just need to encourage that little spark in them!

In our parting note to these young storytellers, we outlined how a StoryVerse Land story would need to be structured. We issued an open call for them to submit their stories, encouraging them to imagine themselves as the authors of stories they wish they had read when they were younger.

We hope we can work with them in the future. Who knows, maybe some of these young writers will one day create the next significant chapter in children’s literature!

Bringing the Magic of Storytelling to More Young Storytellers

We are exploring ways to offer more creative storytelling workshops for children in the future: spaces where children can learn, write, and even work towards seeing their ideas turned into real storybooks.

If that’s something you’d love to see, do let us know. We’d be thrilled to bring more of this magic to your school, community, or creative circle.

Until then, the adventure continues—one joyful, heartwarming tale at a time.
